Can You Reach Your Pastor?

I’ve recently started to attend (and trying my hardest to stay in there) a spring-up church that has been going for about a year and meets inside the local movie theater. For me, LifePoint Church is guided towards “younger, hip” Christians who are sick of the bureaucracy in large churches and are trying to find a escape into a new, smaller scale church setting where fellowship and helping their fellow man is a primary ideal beyond just the teaching of the Bible.
What makes LifePoint unique to me is that it is run and pastored by 33 year old James Laws, also a graphic artist and web administrator. He keeps the website fresh and up-to-date, but also provides his personal blog, e-mail address and contact information all over the site. This provides easy accessibility to the one person in the church who you would often think would be hard to reach.
James keeps up-to-date with his Facebook, inviting friends and fellow church members to the LifePoint fan page and keeps the church calendar updated to a tee.
For me, this is what impresses me about the way social media can be used in the church. Normally, many pastors are hard to reach and a timed meeting must be set if you want to talk one-on-one. With James and other social media using pastors, this struggle becomes easier when all you have to do is type out a message and get a response fairly quickly. I’m very grateful for LifePoint and James and for what they are trying to do in the community.
I feel Pastor James is subtly providing an extra hand in a way many other pastors will never get to provide for their congregation: easy accessibility and a real connection with the people.

Kevin, I’ve also noticed that LifePoint has a Twitter account. It’s connected to quite a few Lee University students.
